If you visit Creekside for any amount of time, you may notice a couple of things. First, you’ll notice that there’s a lot of people involved in putting on a great set of weekend services. Second, you may notice that we rarely break out the Greek or Hebrew from the stage. That’s because our vision doesn’t really drive us down that road.

So if our vision is such that we don’t do the kind of deep word studies that maybe you’re accustomed to, then you may wonder, “How do I grow in a place like Creekside?” and we’re glad you asked.

You see, we believe that spiritual growth has far more to do with your discipleship and a lot less to do with your knowledge. That doesn’t mean we don’t want you learning. It just means we care about the kind of learning you experience. We don’t expect Heaven will be filled with people who can play church trivial pursuit, so we don’t prep you for it. Instead, we call you to live out what you already know – knowing that as you do that, God will increase what you know – calling you to live that out as well.

If we had to guess, we’d guess it’s not that you don’t know what to do, or can’t quickly find it out, but that more often than not, if you’re like us, it’s the doing that’s hard. We don’t ever struggle with a lack of stuff to “know” but God’s Word challenges us that we’ll demonstrate what we know by how we live.

And that’s why you see so many people involved in serving at Creekside. They’re all “learning” right in the middle of church. The folks helping with children, singing in the front, serving snacks – all of them. They’re all developing spiritually; all by serving and putting to use what they already know.

Don’t believe us? Walk up to any one of them and ask them what God’s taught them, since they started serving.
